Weddings that are not at a traditional venue are always a little more involved. But James, Alex and their families made the day run so smoothly. Current residents of Utah, James and Alex had roots in Madison, but were planning from out of state and I got to be their boots on the ground. They selected a park in Maple Bluff, right on the lake, and it was the perfect September day! In spite of the wind, which probably bothered me more than anyone else as I frantically tried to keep all the decorations on the tables, the weather was fantastic. And the views were incredible. Plus, their deep roots in Madison allowed for them to have the best group of family and friends surrounding them for their celebration. Then, when the time came to clean up, they said to me “here’s a group that wants to help” and literally within 30 minutes, all the linens were off, the tables were broken down, and the chairs were stacked, ready for pick up the next day. At one point I even saw Alex carrying trash and was like “what the heck are you doing?!? Are you really taking out the trash?!” That was just a testament to how incredibly kind, thoughtful and outgoing these two are. It was a joy planning this day with them and honestly, I wish I could work with them (and their families) every weekend.
